This weekend was filled with a lot of stuff. For one I was able to buy the part I needed for the lawnmower. Now the front yard doesn't look like a forest anymore. I saw Wrestlemania XXIX. All of my predictions came true except for Chris Jericho beating Fandango. I didn't come here to talk about that, though. There are plenty of other sites out there for your Wrestlemania recaps. I'm fighting sleep right now since I've been up all day.
I saw Jurassic Park 3D today. While I have fond memories of this movie, I have to say that they should have just re-released it in standard definition. Here I was under the impression that there would be dinosaurs jumping out at you through the screen. None of this happened. The 3D seems wasted on a movie that doesn't seem to need it. In fact, some elements of the on screen stuff looked rather blurry in 3D. The movie held up, but the 3D stuff was completely unnecessary and a total distraction.
I went to MPX Live last night. It was business as usual, a great night of independent wrestling. Main Event Mike Foxx, whom I've been a fan of for years since the good ol' days of PCW Wrestling and I want to say NWA Southwest, but I could be wrong, headlined against Kanoa in a Loser Leaves Town Street Fight. Mike Foxx has always been one of my favorite guys. He's a big dude who has "the look" and has become somewhat of a local legend. To me he's right up there with Action Jackson, APOC, Jared Steele and Shadow aka Lance Hoyt; guys who kept the business alive in the DFW area throughout the late 90s and early aughts.
I had been hyped for this match since it was announced. My friend and I kept wondering who would win. It was one of those matches that you just couldn't call. I had my front row seat and I was ready. There were plenty of big spots. The action was brutal, and the weapons were aplenty. In the end Mike Foxx came out victorious. It was an amazing night of good wrestling. After the match was over, a departing Kanoa came by and said goodbye to everyone as he took a final victory lap around the ring. I shook his hand and told him "good match." I'm gonna miss his excitement and energy. We have some good fans here and he acknowledged that. I could see in his eyes he was being completely genuine with us.
Before I could leave the event I posted on Facebook about the great match. Seriously, it blew my mind. It was the best thing I'd ever seen live. It easily surpassed The Rock vs Stone Cold Steve Austin inside a steel cage as my favorite match I'd ever seen in person. I was then humbled when Mr. Foxx shared my post.

Stuff like that is why I appreciate and respect independent wrestlers. I respect all wrestlers, because you have to be dedicated and love what you do to go out there night in and night out and wrestle in front of people. I salute those that go out there and wrestle in front of 100 people night after night without stopping.
To Kanoa, wherever you end up, I'm glad you got to spend a portion of your career here with us. We love you, buddy!
To Mike Foxx: Keep doing what you're doing. You're obviously well loved and respected around these parts. DFW wrestling would have died if not for guys like you. Never give up!
